Food For Thought

All through my life I struggled with accepting loving and honoring myself as the divine being that I now know I truly am!

I grew up in the north of England with a relatively working class background. I was always a little different and never really felt like I fitted in. My beloved mother, (yes I can say this now) was, lets just say, from a generation where accepting anything outside the square ( and believe me it was a really small square) wasn’t really the go. So it was to be an interesting journey indeed when I realized I was gay.

I denied it to myself for a number of years, convincing myself it must not be true and suppressing it with every ounce of my energy. After all there had never been a gay person in our family so how could I be! Besides they were all weird freaks according to the family. I’d always thought of myself as different but I wasn’t going for the freak label.

It was a not so merry a xmas just after my 19th birthday when I blurted it out over the kitchen table It was quite comical in hind sight. Mum burst into tears and dad slowly fell sideways until he hit the oven. Anyhow after an emotionally charged conversation and mum telling me that they weren’t her hormones that made me gay, (great for the self esteem) I went off to work luckily it was in a bar so I could drink black Russians disguised as cokes all night.

At this point Id like to state that I am eternally grateful for the role my mother incarnated to play in my life, the independence she created in me was all empowering albeit I couldn’t see at the time. I know it wasn’t great for her either, but the truth is if it wasn’t for this relationship I wouldn’t be a guru in the Shaki Durga shanti mission! (well actually I probably would but I would not have done all the inner work to get me to where I am now)

After a number of turbulent party years, I  moved to Australia, were I explored my life long desire to get into spirituality. I started seeing a therapist and working on self love and went on to study alternative therapies. Despite the knowledge I had acquired I still found it difficult to accept, respect, love and honor my self. I still had a deep seated pain inside myself about fully accepting my self as a gay man.

It wasn’t until I found the Harmony Centre and studied the courses, and hung out with a group of people that I learnt to accept myself the way I am and love myself unconditionally. Thanks to Shakti Durga for that!!  I am humbled and honored to share the knowledge and wisdom that is innately in my soul with the people I get to work with in my role as healer and teacher in the Shakti Durga Shanti mission.

I wish that through truly finding love and acceptance in your own being that you achieve your highest destiny in this life time with EASE and GRACE.

Namaste Savitur (Paul)

Ps (thanks mum)
